Description

"Here to love, not here to hate I am."

This should represent the daughter of Ödipus, a figure in old greek mythology.

Being born from a cursed marriage between a son who killed unknowingly his father and his mother, she carried the same cursed fate as her whole family. Her brothers (twins) fought over the throne of Thebea and both died on the field of honor. While one was buried with all the decorations a king should recieve, it was forbidden to bury the other and his dead body was left to the birds and the dogs.
Antigone went despite this ban and buried her brother during the night. Furious the new king (her uncle) had her brother brought out again and she went to bury him again. But unfortunately she was caught. She tried to defend herself with her belief that no law was higher than the sacred laws of the gods to respects one's family but the sentence was final and it was to be buried alive in a grave.
Her fiancé, the son of the current king, went to free her despite the ban of his father but when he had opened the grave, she had already killed herself. His grief drove him to follow her into the depths of the netherworld...

This is such a good myth... Antigone, who remained true to herself until the very end, died for her beliefs and the one who loved her and who she loved, was brave enough to follow her...

I tried to draw her as if she was sitting on the walls of the city during the day, planning how to bury her bother during the night... not thinking of herself, but just of others... maybe she knows already that this won't end well and that she will lose everything... but still she will do it... not matter what the costs...
